Introduction: A good level of physical activity improves the physical condition of the tenegers and, reduce the prevalence of some non communicable diseases (NCDs) in the middle age. Objective: To determine the relationship between the Self-Perceived Physical Condition and Physical Activity Level of volunteer incoming students to the Nutrition and Nursing Careers that attended the Entrance Course in the Year 2019. Methodology: The respondents completed the questionnaire: GPAQ (Global Physical Activity Questionnaire) of the the World Health Organization (WHO): where each of the following categories was measured in MET-min/week: Activity at Work, Travel to and from places, Recreational activities, Sedentary behaviour. The scale used to measure them was: High, Medium and Low. The Self-Perceived Physical Condition was determined using the IFiS scale (The International Fitness Scale) where the following categories are evaluated: General Physical fitness, Cardio-respiratory fitness, Muscular Strength, Speed/ Agility, Flexibility. And the Likert psychometric scale was used to classify them into: Very poor, Poor, Average, Good, and Very good. Results: 430 volunteers surveyed, mostly women (75%). 59% presented an average Level of Physical Activity, 22% Low and 19% High. 89% were walking or cycling. 51% practiced intense sports in their free time. 25% presented sedentary behavior (more than 6 hours sitting). Percentage of students who presented a Self-Perception of the Acceptable Physical Condition in the General Physical Fitness category: 45%, in the Cardio-respiratory fitness category: 45%, in the Muscular Strength category: 46%, in the Speed/ Agility category: 43%, and in the Flexibility category: 32%. There are significant differences between the Median of the METs -Min / week of Group 1 (Good Level of Physical Activity) and the Medium of group 2 (Poor Level of Physical Activity), Activities of Moderate and High Intensity. Conclusions: There is a relationship between the Self-perceived Physical Condition and the Level of Physical Activity of Moderate and High Intensity. |
